Ratchaprasong – Bangkok’s Premier Shopping & Lifestyle District

RSTA

Ratchaprasong District is considered as one of the key important shopping and tourist destinations of Bangkok. With this in mind the members of Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA), which was officially formed in 2003, made it their mission to support the government’s vision to create Bangkok as a world class shopping destination. Since 1997 the team of RSTA, have been working actively with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) on the development and preservation plan for Ratchaprasong comprising of many physical improvements, maintenance and marketing programs.

Chronology

1997  Five businesses (Gaysorn Group, Erawan Group Public Co.,Ltd, Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, President Hotel & Tower Co.,Ltd and Maneeya Group) formed Ratchaprasong Square Co.,Ltd to develop the district into a world-class urban village.

1999 Launch of “Shopping Street” project to improve facilities and infrastructure in Ratchaprasong     such as creating linkage among shopping & entertainment destinations, improve sidewalk & paving, landscape, fencing & bollards and kiosk landmarks.

1999 Launched the 1st Bangkok Countdown Annual Event and Street Decorations at Ratchaprasong. It has become the key place to celebrate the New Year Count Down in Bangkok.

2002 Opening of skywalk bridge links between Gaysorn, Erawan Bangkok and Amarin Plaza.

2003 Ratchaprasong Square Co.,Ltd officially became Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA).

2004 Launched ‘Joint Parking’ program to facilitate visitors to the district, at Gaysorn, Erawan Bangkok and Amarin Plaza.

2005 The opening of skywalk bridge link extension to CentralWorld.

2005 Renovation of footbridge on Rajdamri Road.

2006 RSTA celebrates HM King’s 60th Coronation by organizing ‘Grand Invitation’ book signing stations for the public to express their warm wishes His Majesty and musical events & ambience for public enjoyment.

2006 CentralWorld Co.,Ltd becomes a full member of RSTA.
